More than 4,000 people had amputations in Gaza amid Israeli war

More than 4,000 individuals in Gaza have undergone amputations amid the ongoing Israeli military campaign, according to Mohammad Abu Salmiya, director of al-Shifa Hospital.

Speaking at a conference marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Nasser Medical Complex in southern Gaza, Abu Salmiya revealed that “the majority of those who have lost limbs are children.”

“Since the onset of the genocide, over 4,000 people have had upper or lower limb amputations,” he said, adding that more than 2,000 individuals with spinal and brain injuries are now bedridden and in dire need of rehabilitation.

He also highlighted the thousands suffering from hearing and vision impairments as a result of the continuous bombardments.
